【摘要】:TheobjectiveofthispracticeistoprovideproceduresforestimationofhumaninhalationexposuretoVOCsemittedfrombeddingsets.Theestimatedinhalationexposurecanbeusedasaninputtocharacterizationofhealthrisksfromshort-termVOCexposures.Theresultsofexposureestimationforspecificrawmaterialsandcomponents,orprocessesusedinmanufacturingdifferentbeddingsets,canbeusedtocomparetheirrelativeimpactsonexposures.1.1Thispracticecoverstheproceduresforestimationofshort-termhumaninhalationexposuretovolatileorganicchemicals(VOCs)emittedfrombeddingsetswhenanewbeddingsetisfirstbroughtintoahouse.1.2TheestimatedexposureisbasedonanestimatedemissionprofileofVOCsfrombeddingsets.1.3TheVOCemissionfrombeddingsets,asinthecaseofotherhouseholdfurnishings,usuallyarehighestwhentheproductsarenew.Proceduresdescribedinthispracticealsoareapplicabletousedbeddingsets.1.4ExposuretoairborneVOCemissionsinaresidenceisestimatedforahouseholdmember,basedonlocationandactivitypatterns.1.5Theestimatedexposuremaybeusedforcharacterizationofhealthrisksthatcouldresultfromshort-termexposurestoVOCemissions.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortoitsuse.
