【摘要】:ThispartofISO4589specifiesmethodsfordeter-miningtheminimumconcentrationofoxygen,inad-mixturewithnitrogen,thatwillsupportcombustionofsmallverticaltestspecimensunderspecifiedtestconditions.Theresultsaredefinedasoxygenindexvalues.Methodsareprovidedfortestingmaterialsthatareself-supportingintheformofverticalbarsorsheetupto10,5mmthick.Thesemethodsaresuitableforsolid,laminatedorcellularmaterialscharacterizedbyanapparentdensitygreaterthan100kg/m.Themethodsmayalsobeapplicabletosomecellularma-terialshavinganapparentdensityoflessthan100kg/m.Amethodisprovidedfortestingflexiblesheetorfilmmaterialswhilesupportedvertically.Forcomparativepurposes,aprocedureisprovidedfordeterminingwhetherornottheoxygenindexofamaterialliesabovesomespecifiedminimumvalue.OxygenindexresultsobtainedusingthemethodsdescribedinthispartofISO4589canprovideasen-sitivemeasureoftheburningcharacteristicsofma-terialsundercertaincontrolledlaboratoryconditions,andhencemaybeusefulforqualitycontrolpurposes.Theresultsobtainedaredependentupontheshape,orientationandisolationofthetestspecimenandtheconditionsofignition.Forparticularmaterialsorappli-cations,itmaybenecessaryorappropriatetospecifydifferenttestconditions.Resultsobtainedfromtestspecimensofdifferingthicknessorbyusingdifferentignitionproceduresmaynotbecomparableandnocorrelationwithflammabilitybehaviourunderotherfireconditionsisimplied.ResultsobtainedinaccordancewiththispartofISO4589-2mustnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefirehazardpresentedbyaparticularmaterialorshapeunderactualfireconditions,unlessusedasoneelementofafireriskassessmentthattakesintoac-countallofthefactorspertinenttotheassessmentofthefirehazardofaparticularapplicationforthematerial.NOTES1Itmaynotbepossibletoapplythesemethodssatisfac-torilytomaterialsthatexhibithighlevelsofshrinkagewhenheated,e.g.highlyorientedthinfilm.2Forassessingtheflamepropagationpropertiesofcellu-larmaterialsofdensity<100kg/m,attentionisdrawntothemethodofISO3582:1978,Cellularplasticandcellularrubbermaterials—Laboratoryassessmentofhorizontalburningcharacteristicsofsmallspecimenssubjectedtoasmallflame,fortestinghorizontalburningcharacteristics.
