【摘要】:1.1ThisguideisPartThreeofthreeguidestobeusedinconjunctionwithPracticeD5254thatdelineatesthedatadesirabletodescribeaground-waterdatacollectionorsamplingsite.Thisguideidentifiesusagedescriptors,suchasmonitoring,foranindividualground-watersite.GuideD5408describesadditionalinformationbeyondtheminimumsetofdataelementsthatmaybespecifiedtoidentifyaground-watersite,whileGuideD5409identifiesphysicaldescriptors,suchasconstruction,forasite.Note1-Aground-watersiteisdefinedasanysource,location,orsamplingstationcapableofproducingwaterorhydrologicdatafromanaturalstratumfrombelowthesurfaceoftheearth.Asourceorfacilitycanincludeawell,springorseep,anddrainortunnel(nearlyhorizontalinorientation).Othersources,suchasexcavations,drivendevices,boreholes,ponds,lakes,andsinkholes,thatcanbeshowntobehydraulicallyconnectedtothegroundwater,areappropriatefortheuseintended.Note2-GuideD5408includesdataconfidenceclassificationdescriptor(1element),geographiclocationdescriptors(4elements),politicalregimedescriptor(1element),sourceidentifierdescriptors(4elements),legaldescriptors(9elements),ownerdescriptors(2elements),sitevisitdescriptors(3elements),otheridentificationdescriptors(2elements),otherdatadescriptors(3elements),andremarksdescriptors(3elements).GuideD5409includesindividualsitecharacteristics(7dataelements),constructiondescriptors(56dataelements),liftdescriptors(16dataelements),geologicdescriptors(26dataelements),hydraulicdescriptors(20dataelements),andspringdescriptors(11dataelements).Foralistofdescriptorsinthisguide,seeSection3.1.2Thesedataelementsaredescribedintermsusedbyground-waterhydrologists.Standardreferences,suchasRef(1)andvarioushydrogeologicprofessionalpublications,areusedtodeterminethesedefinitions.ManyofthesuggestedelementsandtheirrepresentativecodesarethoseestablishedbytheWaterResourcesDivisionoftheU.S.GeologicalSurveyandusedintheNationalWaterInformationSystemscomputerizeddatabase(1-21).Note3-Thepurposeofthisguideistosuggestdataelementsthatcanbecollectedforground-watersites.Thisdoesnotuniquelyimplyacomputerdatabase,butratherdataelementsforentryintoanytypeofpermanentfile.Note4-Componentandcodelistsgivenwithsomeofthedataelements,forexample"methodofdischargemeasurement,"areonlysuggestions.Theselistscanbemodified,expanded,orreducedforthepurposeintendedbythecompanyoragencymaintainingtheground-waterdatafile.Note5-UseoftradenamesinthisguideisforidentificationpurposesonlyanddoesnotconstituteendorsementbyASTM.1.3Thisguideincludesthedataelementsdesirabletodocumentaground-watersitebeyondthosegivenintheminimumsetofdataelements.Someexamplesofthedataelementsarewaterlevel,discharge,andwater-qualitysamplecollectiondate.Nosinglesitewillneedeverydataelement,forexample,amonitoringsitemaynotneedalong-termwateruserecord.Eachrecord(groupofdataelements)forasitehasmandatorydataelements,suchasthedateforthewaterlevelrecord.However,theseelementsareconsiderednecessaryonlywhenthatspecificrecordisgatheredforthesite.1.4Thevaluesstatedinbothinch-poundandSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
